Portico
A focused SFTP browser for macOS. Remote files, your own editor.
Work on a remote file without changing editors.
Portico is a small macOS app for browsing files on a server, moving individual files between your Mac and that server, and editing remote documents in the application you already use.
Browse, transfer, edit
- Connect over SFTP with your existing SSH keys.
- Navigate remote folders and sort their contents.
- Upload or download individual files using native Mac file pickers.
- Open a remote document in an external editor. Portico handles retrieval and save-back while it is running, with explicit conflict handling when needed.
Keep Portico open until remote saves finish. Editing sessions do not automatically resume after a restart. Its ordinary quit and window-close warnings do not cover Dock Quit, logout, force quit, or a crash.
Deliberately small
The first version is SFTP-only and key-only. It does not include password authentication, other transfer protocols, batch transfers, remote rename or delete, or a built-in editor.
Availability
Version 0.1.0 is an Apple Silicon release candidate. The app and its disk image are signed by Synaxis and notarized by Apple; release testing is still in progress.
Direct download and Homebrew installation are planned, but neither is publicly available yet. An Intel build is not included, and the oldest supported macOS version has not yet been confirmed.
