Studies indicate that employers might be the new “post-secondary colleges.”

A report from edX suggests that 80% of workers see employers as post-secondary learning institutions. This means that employers have the opportunity to provide additional learning and development (L&D) opportunities to incoming workers, including the class of 2024. In addition to artificial intelligence (AI) upskilling, professionalism and etiquette are important skills for young professionals. Many students are entering college without having had a part-time job, which means they may lack basic workplace etiquette. HR can address this by clearly communicating expectations and emphasizing the importance of consideration and communication within the workplace community. Employers are now seen as the next post-secondary college and need to have early conversations about workplace expectations. Almost 50% of upcoming college graduates are more likely to apply for a job that offers employer-provided professional development and upskilling resources. This desire for L&D opportunities is particularly common among Gen Z workers, who recognize the need to refresh their skills at a faster pace.
